Resources for Students

Faculty working with medical students may occasionally become aware of a problem or issue a student is having; faculty should thus be aware of resources available to our students so as to best direct the students to the help they need.   

Learning Support 

Students struggling academically can meet (in person or virtually) with the Learning Specialist, Kristin Richey (  Kristin will help the students develop study plans, find a tutor, or take advantage of other learning resources.  Each student is also assigned a Lead Advisor, who can assist the student with identifying resources at their campus.   

Stress and Mental Health Resources 

Mental health resources are available by appointment or on an emergency/crisis basis 24/7.  Both psychiatric and personal counseling services are available.  More information, including contact information, may be found here:

Mistreatment Reporting Options 

Students who experience mistreatment during their education at IUSM are encouraged to report this behavior and have options for doing so, including disclosing their identity, remaining anonymous, or discussing options with the Ombuds office.  Additionally, faculty or staff can file a report on behalf of a student.
